Near Mint condition, mailed flat. $15 Life Magazine, Feb. 18, 1952. The Glob, text by John O'Reilly, illustrations by Walt Kelly. A slightly condensed version of the book of the same name. Fewer illustrations than the book, but this does include a full page specialty drawing that does not appear anywhere else. This drawing was originally intended for the cover, but was bumped due to the death of King George VI, which put Queen Elizabeth II on the cover (see story in "Ten Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Years With Pogo." Slight spine wear. $20 Limited Edition plate. Walt Kelly's last major piece of artwork, this was done for a series of cartoon prints published by Abrams in 1976. Kelly died before he could ink the artwork, which is done in black and colored pencils. Originally it was not going to be included in the series for that reason, but it was decided that the art was too good to be forgotten. (One of these plates hangs on our office wall and we think it looks better this way than if it had been inked.) Series limited to 100, this is #95, signed by Selby as "Mrs. Walt Kelly."
